WebSpring Bear Hunts. We have the American black bear and on occasion, the grizzly. The grizzly is protected in the state of Idaho, but the black bear can be hunted. Dogs and bait are used for hunting bear outside of the deer and elk season. For the last several years we have had an outstanding kill ratio on trophy black bear.
